Mission

Our mission is to partner with the Department of Education and local schools in the New York City Area and prepare children to become future leaders. We provide parents with support and the tools they need to teach their children and allow them to receive the best education possible.  CAPA believes parents play an integral role in a child’s education and endeavors to assist parents in understanding the school system and educate them about the importance of having a strong partnership between home and school.

About

Chinese American Parents Association (CAPA) was founded in 1986 with the objective to help immigrant families. Over the past 35 years, CAPA has provided a wide range of services including newsletters, educational forums, seminars and workshops. Previous workshops include: Admissions to the Public Schools, Parent Rights and Obligations, High School Selection Process, NY Statewide Exams Preparation, College Applications and Financial Aid, Adult ESL classes, and more.

Over the past 12 years, we have expanded our services to include after-school programs and summer camp programs which challenges students to reach their full intellectual and physical potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

To prepare our youngsters to become future leaders, CAPA has also worked with corporate sponsors and community leaders to conduct several scholarship contests which include: Science Scholarship Contest, English Speech Contest, Reading Comprehension Contest, etc.

CAPA has provided help to thousands of families since being founded in 1986. We offer our services to anyone who is in need and hope to continue our efforts for many years to come.
