PS 120 Q

The CAPA Afterschool program at PS 120 Q provides a welcoming and safe environment for students where they can learn and have fun.  Our program combines educational enrichment with recreational activities for a well-balanced program.  

Our staff consists of college students pursuing in education and volunteers who work together with small groups to ensure that each child has completed their homework and is provided with additional help if needed.  Our class sizes are kept low with an average of 20:2 student to instructor ratio per classroom, guaranteeing attention and support to every child’s need.

We operate based on the school calendar schedule.  Please check the NYC DOE school year calendar for more information. 

REGISTRATION:

Our program at PS 120 will be strictly lottery based. For the lucky students who are selected into our lottery system, they will receive free education for the entire school year.

Arrival Procedure/到达程序/ Procedimiento de llegada 2:20PM:

Students will be dropped off by their regular school day teachers. Parents DO NOT need to be present. If your child is absent during the school day, they will not be allowed to attend our program that day. Snacks will be provided at 2:30 PM. The official snack menu will be found on the DOE website. Early Pickups/早退/Recolecciones tempranas:

If you need to pick up your child earlier, please call us and we will bring your child to the Front Main Entrance of the building. Allow 5-10 minutes for us to gather your child and their belongings. Early pickups can be anytime before 4:45 PM. Dismissal Procedure/放学程序/Procedimiento de despido 5:00 to 5:30PM:

Dismissal will start at 5:00 PM and students will be in the school’s auditorium. Parents will enter into the auditorium through EXIT 8 located in the school yard by the grass field. Only parents and guardians listed on your emergency contacts will be allowed to pick up your child. Keep in mind that everyone MUST show proof of vaccination in order to enter the school building. If you cannot show proof of vaccination please wait outside for a staff member to bring the student out. Classes will be seated in their designated class areas according to the diagram below. Please follow the one way flow of traffic and exit the auditorium from EXIT 9. Please make sure to bring a valid photo ID so the teacher knows who you are. For the first week parents/guardians will be required to sign your child out. Unless you notify us, anyone not listed on your emergency contacts cannot pick up your child.
